It’s indeed a sad day for many, especially those in the HK entertainment industry as they have lost one of their most favored comedians, Lydia Shum Din-Ha (July 21, 1947 – February 19, 2008). Lydia Shum passed away on 19 February 2008, 10am at Queen Mary Hospital of Hong Kong. She was 60 when she died. In September last year, Lydia Shum was admitted to hospital for a cholelithotomy to have 32 gallstones extracted. Then, she was diagnosed with cancer of the liver and gallbladder.
I’ve been watching her shows since i was just a kid and she will be sorely missed. I will always remember her laughter, her signature hairstyle and those black glasses. Lydia Shum is also fondly known as Fei Fei or Fei Jeh. My heart goes out to her daughter, Joyce Cheng. I hope in times like this, she will be strong, just like her mom has always been. May Lydia Shum rest in peace.
